Breathing Apparatus is a certification course, which has to be refreshed every 6 months to ensure the certification stays current. FESA sends a qualified instructor once every 6 months to do a training drill which is focused on all aspects of Breathing Apparatus operations. This ranges from how to don BA, weekly checks on the equipment, procedures for BA wearers, procedures for entry control and how to clean equipment after use. These training nights can be very demanding on firefighters and gives them an appreciation for the hazardous environment they are working in. |
